The journey behind the tiny hats
Kauri and Sons’ story begins as so many of the best do, with a mother creating for her children. Tori Veysey is Mama to two beautiful boys and designer of hats for little men with rad style.
After her second son was born, Tori couldn’t find any newborn hats with a neutral colour palette and the kind of refined style she liked - something her husband would wear, but for a mini-human. So she made one herself, and has been making them ever since.
Graphic designer and illustrator by trade, Tori has always appreciated beautifully made things and has brought this with her as she branches into baby fashion.
Now, Kauri and Sons create lovingly crafted hats and clothes for boys from newborn to 24 months. Tori and her family are based in Cambridge, Aotearoa.
Inspired by the spirit of family and forest, of interwoven strength and Kiwi roots.
Like the mighty Kauri tree, we want our boys to stand tall and proud, looking great as they do.
Our hats are refined and made to last, the kind that celebrates adventure and brotherhood.
At Kauri and Sons, we cherish people and the environment
An undercover hippy for some time now, I am as passionate about eco-friendly and socially responsible practices as I am about fine craftsmanship. I didn’t want to start a company without knowing people were being paid well and fairly, and that my work was in harmony with nature. I believe baby clothing should be made with love, the purest materials and under conditions that honour the farmers, the crafters and the earth. This way, as parents, we can help nourish and protect the world our children grow up in.
